What is a podcast?

A podcast is a multimedia file that is distributed over the Internet for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.  It can be an audio file or a video file.

Have you made any podcasts?

Visit my weblog to hear my first podcast. This podcast is a dramatic reading of a poem that touched my heart when I was young.  It was quite popular at one point in time.  Many could recite every verse by heart.  Here I recite only one verse, but it is certainly the most poignant.

How could I use it in my classroom?

There are many ways that you could use a podcast in your classroom.  You could have students produce podcasts instead of a classroom presentation.  Students could "interview" other students for a podcast, or they could read poetry for their podcast.  Math students could produce a sports show with a statistics emphasis, an episode of a show like Square One, or even a drama that has math themes like Mathnet from Square One.
