I recently graduated from
Bloomsburg University with my Master of Education in Curriculum and
Instruction. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from
Lafayette College. Now I am certified to teach Mathematics 7-12.
Some teachers know all
their lives that they want to be a teacher. That was not the case
for me. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And I became
a Christian when I was in the 8th grade. When I graduated from Fox
Chapel Area High School, I went to Lafayette College to become a
chemical engineer. While at college, I not only grew in my love
for math and science, but I also grew in my love for the Lord Jesus
Christ and His church. In my junior year, I changed my major to
mathematics to allow me more time to invest in the younger women in the
Christian Fellowship at Lafayette.
Upon graduating from
Lafayette, I joined the staff of DiscipleMakers. DiscipleMakers is
a Christian ministry to college students. I spent nine months
fund-raising my salary and benefits. Then I moved to State College
and worked in the DiscipleMakers headquarters. I worked on
accounting, donor relations, recruiting and coordinating events.
After a number of years doing these administrative tasks, I wanted to do
something different. I decided to pursue a career in education but
I took the long route in figuring out how to do that. Really, I
was just stalling until there was an opening at Trinity Christian
School.
I love the Pittsburgh Steelers. I am
also a big fan of
Penn State football. I used to walk past Joe Paterno's house every day on
my way to work. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with
friends. I also enjoy reading and journaling and drinking coffee.
